NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE FINAL GAME

This Upload right here contains a Reupload from the Unity pre Alpha Demo from their Kickstarter in 2016. This Demo was delisted from all Storefronts and replaced with a newer Version running in Unreal Engine 4.

Oh yes System Shock, and Yes I played the Original DOS-Version from 1994 (My CD-Version still works to this day) and the Remake from 2023. What an excellent Remake, probably my favorite Remake of all Time.

In this Game the Mainprotagonist is a Hacker that got caught by some Higher-ups that put him on Stasis on Citadel Station, the Place where this Game takes place.

A long Time later he awakes from Stasis and now he has to try to find a Way out, but Robots, Turrets and even Mutants try to stop him.
And a sentient AI named "SHODAN". So that´s all for Spoilers:

This Game was revolutionary in 1994. It combined many Genres into one.

And this exact Mix of Genres was never done before at this Time. Many call this "Immersive Sim" for some Reason.

The Original version was on Floppy disc (R.I.P.). The CD Version that was released one year later had really nice Improvements.

This CD-Version was the first Game that used Audio logs to tell a Story (at least I think so, have not seen this anywhere else at the Time). The Voicecast was pretty stellar.

It was way better than Resident evil´s voiceacting for example, especially Terri Brosius as "SHODAN". She was in fact so good that every System shock game after it, including the Remake, featured her in the Role.

But this is also a Game that is not for everyone, Slowpaced, no Handholding, focus on Exploration and puzzles, challenging Combat, confusing Leveldesign, Location is very Maze like so get used to getting lost.

And if I mean Maze like i really mean it, you getting lost in the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil... YOU HAVE SEEN NOTHING YET!!!

So playing a Demo first would be a good Idea if you have never played System Shock before. And now here we are what you actually are looking for:

Damn what a Looker: The Unity Version was very early in Development but this Retro Sci-Fi Aesthetic they were going for really shines through.

I would argue It looks even better than the Final Game, not that the Final Game looks bad mind you, far from it. I just prefer this one (Tastes are different).

This Demo is pretty short (15-20 Minutes) and features basic Exploration and Puzzlesolving. Also Combat with Mutants. Not much here but still cool to see this Game in this Stage of Development.

A few years later the Developers swapped from Unity to Unreal Engine 4

But I am also an Completionist, so I also included this newer UE4 Demoversion as a Bonus, so you can see right here how this Game has evolved through Development. It´s always fascinating how Games change over Time...

Had to split this one so download all two parts than unpack them.

The UE4 Demo features way more Content than the Unity one, obviously. It resembles the Final Game but there are still some minor Differences in Lighting and Modeling.

Nothing too crazy but enough that People like me have to also include it here, wouldn´t feel complete otherwise.

If you are curious about the differences between the Demo Versions watch this Video from Youtuber "Cycu1" that is linked in the Top Right Corner.

And before someone mentions it: Yes you can also get this Demo on Steam and GOG, I am not sure if it´s still the same build but It´s there.

The Full Game is available here: (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!).
