Outlast 2 Demo Reupload
A downloadable game for Windows
Here is the for some Reason lost Demo of Outlast 2. I don´t know why but this Demo was only available for a short Period of Time and than got deleted.
So for Preservation´s Sake here is it back again in all it´s Glory. All the scenes here are also featured in the Full Game but placed completly different. So even If you played the Full game before this is still worth checking out.
I had to split the Demo in 5 parts because of 1GB File limit. So download every part and than unpack it (just unpack part 1 the Rest gets unpacked with it and make sure every part is in the same Location).
You can find the Full Game here:

The demo opens and runs really good at high graphics but the graphics.... they are not right. Textures have weird color, the floor has a bland texture, it's just not looking normal. Which is weird since I have the full game on GOG and it works just fine, no graphical problems like that. Is it because the demo has low performance or is there a way to fix it?
Weird... can you post a Screenshot here...
I did not encounter this not even once...
But that the Final Game runs without issues means nothing because the Demo is an older Build that did not get updated in years.
Could be a Compability issue that was fixed in the Final Game.
Hi! I know it`s a little bit late to claim this, but I`m quite keen on Outlast 2 demo and I was quite eager and surprised to find it here. So I downloaded it and tried to run it (as an administrator), but it always writes "the application was unable to start (0xc000007b)". I know that it could be quite common amongst programmes, but the problem is that I`ve tried out all the occuring solutions, so mainly they mention reinstall directx and visual c++. I`ve already tried out to install directx and visual c++ from the time of the game (so software updates from 2016), doesn`t work, then I`ve tried out to have the latest installments of these softwares (so the most recents), but I always receive this message. Do you have any solution for this or have you encountered with this issue? Thank you for your answer in advance.
Nope have never encountered this one... This is most likely a DLL Compabilty Error. Or your Direct X Install got corrupted somehow by a Windows Update for Example. What System are you on??? This would be helpful to know.
So the only thing I could think of to fix this is delete all of your Direct X Files and reinstalling them from Scratch. Sorry that I am not really helpful here...
One other Suggestion I can make is go to your Outlast 2 Demo Gamefolder and open: _CommonRedist/vcredist/2012 and install both vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe. I have left them here for this exact case. Don´t know if this fixes your Problem though...
Hi. Yes, I`m on Windows 10 professional 64-bit. Yes, I`ve tried this already but didn`t help...but thanks for your effort to help.
Okay so when installing vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe also didnt help this most likely means your Direct X Install is corrupted.
To repair corrupted Direct X Files go to your Searchbar on your Taskbar and type in "cmd". Don´t forget to select "use as Administrator". This will open a Command Window.
In there you type in "sfc /scannow". Than press Enter.
This will scan your Direct X Install for Corruptions. Let this Process finish, can take a while. Than try launching the Game again. I really hope this works...
Have downloaded my Build here on Itchio again just to make sure the Files are OK.
Have absolutely zero Issues, I am unable to replicate your Issue.
So I am pretty sure the Issue lies in your PC-Build somewhere.
Driver Issue, Hardware Issue (i hope you are not on a Laptop).
Your PC-specs would be nice to know, because even my old Windows 7 Rig with a GTX 970 has zero Issues. 8GB DDR3 Ram and I7 3770 3,4 Ghz.
My second Windows 10 PC Rig with a RTX 2060 also has zero Issues. 16 GB DDR4 Ram and I7 9700k 4,7 Ghz.
Yes, I am playing on a laptop since this is the only "PC" device I have. My specs are an Intel Core i5-6200U CPU 2.30 GHz 2.40 GHz, 8.00 GB of Ram, 64 bits, Windows 10. Also have a Nvidia GeForce MX110 Graphic Card. All my drivers are updated. I don't have a picture or a video about the glitch, but if I can I'll send it here, so you can see what I'm talking about. Still, glad I found your it.chio page, it's really cool to be able to play all this demos and prototypes that seemed lost.
Yeah that explains it... This Demo is most likely not compatible with your Laptop. I am sorry...
Laptop Components are different than Desktop components...
I mean it might be possible to make it work but... this will be a tremendous Task I don´t think anyone will bother making a Fix for an outdated Demo.
Damn this sucks... I wish I could help you... But i can´t...
And thanks for your kind Words... Means a lot!!!

And you can if you want delete your Google Drive page and the Comment with the Link. I have already made Copies.
Always wondered why this was delisted, thank you!
You´re welcome.
I didn’t even know there was a demo for this game, lol.
This demo reminds me of the F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin demo with it’s shuffling of scenes. Although with Project Origin, there was also bigger differences in content too unlike here.
I actually have the F.E.A.R. 2 Demo as well. I might uploading it here as well as an additional Backup Download source in case it gets deleted, not sure about this yet. You can also get it directly from Steam.
